Sometimes when I’m just not sure where to start, I search for card sketches to get me started. I came across this sketch on Google which I thought was quite cute.
I already knew that I wanted to use my favourite stamp set An Open Heart because I just don’t use it enough. I also wanted to do a kraft with black card. As it happened, our supremely awesome Aussie Artisan team member Teneale Williams had just created a beautiful card using the same stamp set, so I popped on over to her blog for some inspiration. Well, after I got lost in her blog for far too long, I returned to my crafting with loads of inspiration. I guess you could say that I got my Teneale on!
Out came my trusty Kraft 12″ x 12″ cardstock (come on you knew it was coming!) for the base. I wanted to feature the amazing bird stamp. It’s so beautiful that I didn’t do anything else to it except daub a little VersaMark underneath it for a shadow. I stamped the ‘leaves’ in VersaMark at the base for a little texture and added some strips of washi tape and DSP. Then I added some Very Vanilla satin ribbon with a Teneale bow – of course, and a Very Vintage button.
Just when I thought I was finished, I was reminded that I needed to do the inside. Something that Teneale is famous for. OK, I might have directly borrowed the Typeset DSP strip idea from her but how can you not. It looks SO good. I simply mounted it along with some Very Vanilla cardstock and stamped kraft cardstock and there you go, a jazzed up inside. I love it.
Thus ends my tribute to Teneale which really only started with a quick visit to her blog. But you can’t come away without being inspired!
I love this one so much that I’m truly undecided about putting it in my Etsy store. I guess you’ll have to convince me if you want to buy it 😉 Just comment below to persuade me…
