Welcome to the Pennsationals team blog hop. As a team, we’ve started to do a monthly blog hop with a different theme each time. This month is a colour challenge.
We can create any type of project using Island Indigo, Blackberry Bliss and either gold or silver. I love these colours so I was looking forward to the challenge! We can also use Whisper White, Very Vanilla, Kraft/Crumb Cake and Basic Black as neutrals to complement the main colours.
My inspiration came from an unlikely place this month. I’ve been seeing Jamberry Nails designs everywhere since they launched in Australia a couple of weeks ago. One of their designs is a very geometric design with a splash of silver, so I went about recreating that look, but with our colours, into a Christmas card.
It’s loud and proud and I love it!
I used the Tree Punch to punch out the triangles and just cut off the trunk. To create the negative space tree, I simply reversed the process and cut a trunk out of the base of one triangle. I adhered all the triangles to a piece of scrap paper and got the background right before I sewed around the edges and tree.
The sentiment is from the Happy Scenes stamp set. I also used an adorable wooden Snowflake Element, Silver Cording Trim and sequins to finish it off.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my project. The next step on the hop is the very lovely Emma of Vintage Graffiti.

Welcome to the next stop on the inaugural Pennsationals team blog hop. We’re so excited to be showcasing projects and products from the brand new Holiday Catalogue. This has been my favourite catalogue in years so it was a challenge to decide on just the one project.
One of my must haves from this catalogue are the Sleigh Ride Edgelit Dies. They are so much fun and I also fell in love with the catalogue samples. A few weeks ago I was asked to teach a card making class and we made a Bendi card. While I was making the samples for this class, I knew that these edgelits would be just PERFECT for a Bendi card so I quickly whipped up a teaser sample for the class.
Fast forward a few weeks and we’ve just completed some team swaps showcasing our favourites from the Holiday Catalogue. I loved my Bendi card so much that I re-created it for our team swap and I’m sharing it with you today.
I CASEd the sponged background from one of the catalogue samples and used Shimmery White cardstock as my base so that it would also be all sparkly (better photo on that feature below). I toyed around with adding extras to the sky but in the end, I loved the calmness and stillness that the plain-ness brings. It really is a silent night. I used both Whisper White Thick cardstock for a sturdy base and regular Whisper White for the bendi elements of the card.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my project. You can click here to find a Bendi Card tutorial, but first you should check out more inspiration from the divine Emma Palonek.
(If you’re hopping in reverse, You’ll find the lovely Mel Pagano here).
