Triangles and Trees

penns_hopWelcome to the Pennsationals team blog hop. As a team, we’ve started to do a monthly blog hop with a different theme each time. This month is a colour challenge.

penns_hop_colourchallenge#1We can create any type of project using Island Indigo, Blackberry Bliss and either gold or silver. I love these colours so I was looking forward to the challenge! We can also use Whisper White, Very Vanilla, Kraft/Crumb Cake and Basic Black as neutrals to complement the main colours.

My inspiration came from an unlikely place this month. I’ve been seeing Jamberry Nails designs everywhere since they launched in Australia a couple of weeks ago. One of their designs is a very geometric design with a splash of silver, so I went about recreating that look, but with our colours, into a Christmas card.

Stampin' Up! Tree Punch I Triangles/Geometric I Pennsationals Blog Hop Colour Challenge I www.thepapercaper.com.au by Jessica Williams

It’s loud and proud and I love it!

I used the Tree Punch to punch out the triangles and just cut off the trunk. To create the negative space tree, I simply reversed the process and cut a trunk out of the base of one triangle. I adhered all the triangles to a piece of scrap paper and got the background right before I sewed around the edges and tree.

The sentiment is from the Happy Scenes stamp set. I also used an adorable wooden Snowflake Element, Silver Cording Trim and sequins to finish it off.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my project. The next step on the hop is the very lovely Emma of Vintage Graffiti.

Borrowed Butterflies

So, you know those times when you see something just gorgeous and you take a photo so that you can re-create it later? My upline Tracy was given a beautiful card and I’d seen it at her place a few times and each time I thought, I just have to CASE that one. I even bought the stamp set specifically for this purpose, which was a first for me. At only $16.95 (clear mount) though, the adorable Kindness Matters set is not a bank breaker by any means.

Usually about now, I’m directing you to the blog or original card however Teresa Dabrowski the demonstrator that gave Tracy the card doesn’t have a blog, so I can’t. Anyway, here’s my attempt at her beautiful card.

And look, I even did the inside…

The card also uses one of my new favourite toys, the designer frames embossing folders for the Big Shot. The splodge and writing stamps are both from French Foliage which is a must have set when creating vintage style cards.

Here’s a closer look at the Kindness Matters stamp set…

It is such a gem! Just do a google images search for “Stampin Up Kindness Matters” and you’ll see what I mean! I can’t wait to play with it some more.

Happy Crafting,

Jess x
