I Love Lace… and perfect pink bundles

Upon my return from convention, I heard the delightful news that some friends had (finally) had their baby girl. Sweet Charis was ‘only’ two weeks late, so a much anticipated arrival. What a perfect card to use my brand new Manager’s Reception gift, the I Love Lace background stamp. It is just SO gorgeous and delicate.

To create the background, I embossed the stamp with clear embossing powder and then sponged with Pink Pirouette creating an ombre effect. A touch of Rose Red in the top corners gave it a little bit of extra oomph. The bunny was stamped and then masked to protect it from the sponged background. A vellum banner made a subtle greeting.

(Un)convention Wrap Up… (Includes Spoilers and Sneak Peeks)

A couple of weekends ago in chilly Canberra, a group of about 450 mad-for-Stampin’ Up! demonstrators gathered together for the annual Stampin’ Up! convention. Convention is 3 days of Stampin’ Up! heaven and combines demonstrations, workshops, make & takes (stamping), meeting other demos (some who you’ve ‘met’ during the year online), swapping cards and ideas, awards, scoring free Stampin’ Up! product and much more!

Sadly, I wasn’t able to be there this year. My youngest cherub is still feeding but a little too old to be satisfied by watching me stamp from his pram. Thus, I participated in my first Unconvention. It was run online by a team of demonstrators who also couldn’t make it to the real deal. They made the weekend so much fun. They ran crafting challenges and together we waited on the secrets filtering through from Canberra.

My first little snippit of excitement is the following card. You may notice that it has some designer series paper that you haven’t seen before. Yes, it’s brand new and coming in the new annual catalogue. If you look closely, you’ll also notice 4 brand new colours; Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals, Summer Starfruit & Midnight Muse. They, along with Gumball Green make up the 2012-2014 In Colors and they are just a little bit divine!

I entered this card into an unconvention challenge which was to use a brand new product or one that we hadn’t used for a long time. It was also dual purpose in that we created it again at the first ever Paper Caper team meeting last Tuesday night! Yes, we do have fun doing what we love at team meetings!

The second card I made was actually a challenge winner! My first ever win… very exciting. It may be a little familiar as it’s a little similar to the card from my last blog post. This challenge was a sketch challenge and I thought a little clothesline of baby dresses would suit the sketch perfectly. Without further ado…

Notice in both cards the little banners? Another little sneak peek of an upcoming stamp set!

So to finish (this lengthy blog post), I want to spill a little about the upcoming Annual Catalogue…

  • It will launch on 1 September
  • it will be 38 pages longer than our last catalogue – wooooop!
  • it will be closer than ever to the US catalogue in terms of product offering
  • it will only be valid for 10 months, because..
… in 2013, our catalogue will be launching in July! Only 1 month after the US catalogue!
Plus, there will also be a Holiday Catalogue launched at the start of September. It will be larger than our current mini catalogues and will have some super exciting new products. I know this because I’ve seen a little sneeky peek of the US Holiday Catalogue and it is SOOOOO luscious!
The best part is that as a demonstrator, I get a free copy and the ability to purchase selected products from both catalogues in August! And I get all my products for a minimum of 20% off! If you want in on this action (and why wouldn’t you?), just choose ANY Stampin’ Up! products to the value of $235 and pay only $169 for them by signing up on my website OR contact me for more info and I’ll likely chew your ear off about how fantastic being part of the SU family really is!
Seriously, don’t miss it – it’s going to be a fun-filled few months!

Welcome Emily!

We recently had an addition to our extended family. My cousin and his wife welcomed their first baby, a daughter, Emily Rose. As they live a couple of states away, I haven’t met her but it’s lovely to see some pics on facebook. I love that the Internet allows us to keep in touch with far away family so easily!

Obviously this sort of occasion requires a card, so a card making I did go. I wanted it to be cute, pink & pretty! I have seen these super cute baby dresses made from Stampin’ Up!’s owl builder punch and ribbon and wanted to give them a go. Note: I’ve seen these on a few different sites, so I’m unsure who to credit with this idea, but thanks for your creativity whoever you are!

So there are the 3 super cute little dresses, hanging on the line. I added some little tags made from the Tiny Tags stamp set and punched from the Jewelry Tag punch and Small Heart punch.

Congratulations again Simone & Shi-Anne – enjoy your new bundle of joy!
