Timeless Love in a hop

EurekaStampers new catalogue blog hop. Start at www.thepapercaper.com.au

Every year there is one set in the catalogue that I often overlook on the first perusal but then it grabs me and I can’t get it out of my head until I order it, it arrives in the big brown box and I have a play. This year’s set is Timeless Love. I just LOVE the vintage style of the flowers as well as the font and sentiments.

I knew that my first play would involve some watercolouring. I know, I’m getting predictable. I wanted to try a style I hadn’t before so I stamped very lightly in Pink Pirouette just to give a slight outline of the flowers. Then I gave each of them a rough watercolour wash and then went back and added more colour and shading. I did want to keep the rustic vibe happening though so it’s purposefully not quite perfect. I loved the result without an outline so I kept it. Perhaps next time I’ll stamp over the top again.

I then added a layer of vellum to soften it even more with a stamped sentiment on top. My blog followers will know that I’m not a sentiment person. I don’t know why but I usually don’t add them to my cards. This one however, I LOVE. I love the font, I love the words, I love the meaning. So if you receive a card from me this year, there’s a chance it’ll have this sentiment on it! I then added some of the new Everyday Chic washi tape to the edges – it’s also a sneaky way of attaching the vellum without adhesive showing through. Finally I added a Calypso Coral seam binding ribbon, mounted it and I was done. And I love it!

You Sparkle… and I’m CASE-ing the Catty

I’ve got some exciting news! As of today, I’m part of the design team for a brand new challenge blog called CASE-ing the Catty. The Stampin’ Up! catalogue is choc full of brilliant ideas and inspiration to get your creative juices flowing and this new challenge was created to encourage you to use this amazing resource to a greater potential. I love to CASE (both the catalogue and other paper-crafters) and I also love that not only is this ok in the world of paper-craft, but it’s encouraged. It’s fabulous to create and share with others – it’s what it’s all about!

Our very first challenge is to CASE a project from the Gift & Packaging section of the catalogue. How awesome that we begin with my favourite section! It was quite difficult to narrow down which project to choose so in the end I chose two and merged them together to make a hybrid ‘baby’ – lol. My chosen projects were the ‘Love You’ confetti bag on page 10 (South Pacific catalogue) and the Gold Sequin Trim on Calypso Coral gift box on page 15. I’m certain regular readers of my blog could have picked the sequin trim project!

Here’s my baby…
