Re-visiting for Roomie Gifts

I know convention finished a little over two weeks ago now (is that all? Feels like I’ve been back to regular programming forever!), but I’ve neglected to show you the little pillow gifts I created for my roomies. It’s a bit of a tradition to create a small gift for people you’re rooming with, or in our case sharing an apartment with, and I was on a quest to come up with something a bit different. I’m a HUGE fan of cheesy plays on words and I stumbled across a collection of roomie-gift inspired sentiments by blogger Jamie Dorobek. The one that particularly took my fancy was ‘I was soapin’ you’d be my roomie’. Hilarious – it still makes me laugh! So, I began my hunt for the perfect soaps to become the star of my gift. Eventually I stumbled across a collection of handmade soaps at a local store. There was only one problem… I needed a male gift too. One of my team member’s hubby stayed a couple of nights with us to celebrate both her birthday and her achievements on Awards night. Back to the blog for more inpsiration. ‘Orange you glad we’re roomies?’ Gold! Choc-orange balls for the win!

Fortunately, Stampin’ Up! has so many divine packaging options and settling on one was the hardest part. I actually re-sized these Tag-a-bag Gift Boxes (see a video tutorial here) to become the perfect size. I wanted to create a little crate for my soaps and what better stamp to use than Hardwood? Just the thing! I added some feminine decoration around the soap bars and nestled them on a bed of brown paper packaging strips.

The tags were made in MDS which had a bubbles stamp (another win). Some quick re-colouring, copying and pasting and they were done.

Hope my team enjoyed the fun gift as much as I enjoyed making them!
