Lest We Forget

I wanted to commemorate ANZAC Day with something special this year so I thought some poppies would be just the thing. I love to make flowers from Creped Filter Paper, wire and florist tape and these are no exception. I had a look through my punches and framelits to find a suitable shape and settled on the Mosaic Punch – bet you didn’t see that coming. I simply trimmed off the point from one end and it became a rounded petal. I had some black stamen in my stash from a wedding cake I had made featuring poppies (feel free to check that out here) so they got a new lease on life as paper poppies. I then taped the petals to the wire, painted them with an Aqua Painter filled with water and reinker and then dried with my heat tool. Perfect poppies for ANZAC Day. Thought they would be best displayed with The Ode.

The best part about creating this was that it sparked the interest of my son and we got to have a little chat about what ANZAC Day means and the sacrifices made for our freedom. Lest We Forget.
