The Stamp Review Crew features Thoughtful Banners

I love a challenge. Do you? I think Thoughtful Banners is a great stamp set but not necessarily a stand alone set. I always love to only use the selected stamp set for each Stamp Review Crew feature. As well as that, I thought I’d play along with the lovely crew at CASEing the Catty challenges who play on Facebook each week. This week their challenge is to be inspired by any current kit. So… was I up for the challenge?

I chose to be inspired by the Oh Happy Day card kit. I love the bright colours. Now how to replicate using only Thoughtful Banners?

I used the Classic Label Punch shaped stanp to create a strip of diagonal lines. The easiest way I found was to ink up only one edge of the stamp and use the edge to line up. The photopolymer allowed me to easily see through to line it up against the previous stamped line. I then used the ‘o’ from the ‘hello’ stamp to create the spots in Bermuda Bay ink. As I was only allowed to use one stamp set, I did my best to create some watercolour blooms in similar colours.

My second card was a lot easier! Don’t overlook the little triangle in the set. It makes great geometric backgrounds!

The last card was a little bit of a mish mash of a few cards from the kit. I looked at a few and went with the general vibe!

So… don’t be discouraged when you don’t have the ‘right’ stamp set. Just get a little creative with it and see what happens!

  1. Very clever use of the stamps Jess, so lovely that you are using CASEing the Catty as part of your design inspiration. Thanks for the tips.
