I have a confession to make. I signed up to a team swap featuring wonderful new products we received at OnStage – a demo only event – so I decided to kill two birds with one stone and base my swap on the sketch. Plus, given my earlier post was all about retired stuff, it’s only right that I let you in on a few secrets. Am I right?
OK, so obviously I started with a watercolour wash. Is this the BEST sketch ever or what? Thanks Teneale! I generally use 1 colour for watercolour backgrounds but this time, I thought ‘why not use 5’? lol. I began with pieces of Shimmery White cardstock (it doesn’t mind getting wet) and splashed on some water in the general area I wanted to colour. Then I added Crushed Curry, Peekaboo Peach, Calypso Coral, Flirty Flamingo and Rose Red ink. I let them air dry which I thought was most restrained of me given I’m usually impatient and dry them with my heat tool but I think air drying looks nicer and my team deserved that!
Once the backgrounds were dry, I heat embossed the sentiment on with… drumroll please… Copper Embossing Powder! WOOP! I used a new stamp set called Scenic Sayings and I just thought the Oh Happy Day was so perfect for these cards. The copper and the colours just make my heart smile!
I added a few sequins to each to finish them off. I love the Metallic Sequin Assortment. It comes with gold, silver, black, white and clear round, star and heart sequins and they always seem to be the perfect touch for every project!
Be sure to check out the Global Design Project site to see lots more watercolour (and more) inspiration. We’d love you to join in with the fun too!
P.S. Live in Australia and don’t have a demonstrator? You can pre-order a catalogue here featuring all this deliciousness and oh, so much more!
