Well hello there. There are salutations a plenty in today’s post! This week at CASEing the Catty, we’ve chosen to CASE another of our favourite projects from the Sale-A-Bration catalogue. My chosen sample features the Hello stamp set. I LOVE the feature stamp in this set and to be honest I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to recreate this gorgeous watercolour sample on the left.
If you want to recreate this sample like me, be quick! You can earn this stamp set for FREE just by spending $90 in my store but only until 15 February! Not enough time? Buy the starter kit ($295 worth of products of your choice for just $169) and enjoy demo perks like having access to new product a month or more before it’s released to the public!
I started with watercolour paper and knew that I wasn’t going to be able to choose just one colour combination so I cut the 6″x9″ sheet into four and decided to make a little set of notecards.
I first brushed water onto the paper and then added my ink. The water helps the ink travel around a little and blend colours. Once the ink was dry, I flicked some drops of water onto each, left them for a minute or two and then dabbed off the excess with a tissue. This technique creates lighter spots in the background wash and can be a fun effect.
Just like the sample card, I then embossed each card with Gold Embossing powder to create my ‘hello’. I then accessorised my card with some washi tape (stuck on a strip of vellum), Gold 1/8″ Ribbon and a sweet vellum butterfly. I used Gold Metallic Thread around the body of my butterfly and left the end threads long to create antennae.
Here are the different cards and colour combinations…
I packaged all the cards together at the end with envelopes and tied with a Pool Party Glitter ribbon – I cannot get enough of this ribbon (you may have noticed)!
What do you think? Which combination of colours is your favourite? Or, would you use a different combination? Let me know in the comments below and then be sure to hop on to the lovely Bronwyn Eastley to see more inspiration CASEd from Stampin’ Up!’s Sale-A-Bration catalogue.
