Artisan Design Team Blog Hop – Boxes and Blooms

One of my favourite products in this year’s Occasions Catalogue is the Shine On Specialty Designer Series Paper and I was thrilled to see it included in our first Artisan Design Team box of products. The vibrancy of the prints combined with the kraft cardstock just makes my heart smile. There are some amazing silver foil prints on the reverse of each sheet but for my first play, I wanted to make some projects that focused on the bright colours.

I knew I wanted to make boxes. I also knew I wanted to use the Birthday Blooms stamp set which I adore and I wanted to use watercolour. This first box features a watercoloured bloom on Kraft cardstock. I used Tangelo Twist and Cucumber Crush inks. I love the way the Kraft affected the orange colour and some parts of the flower are more yellow. It gives my bloom gorgeous highlights and a natural mottled look. I used Burlap Ribbon and the new Bermuda Bay Stitched Ribbon to create a belly band.

I made a second box featuring the Cucumber Crush and Kraft polka dot sheet. This time I used contrasting Rose Red ink with Cucumber Crush ink leaves on Shimmery White cardstock. I used White Jute Ribbon and Melon Mambo Stitched Satin Ribbon with a bow tied on the side of the box for something a little different.

  1. Fabulous boxes, Jessica! I have never tried watercoloring on kraft card stock before, but I love how it looks on your project.

  2. Amazing projects! Watercoloring on kraft is beautiful. And, I love the rough texture of the thick ribbons with the soft watercolored flowers and brights of the paper patterns. So much lovely contrast!

  3. Wow! The watercoloring on kraft card is so stunning! I LOVE your ribbon belly bands. The contrast between the widths and textures is really eye-catching, and the bright colour on a neutral ribbon really pops.

  4. Your boxes are absolutely stunning. Your creativity is fantastic. Love your color combinations. I think I just might need to purchase this wonderful paper. Would share what size box you made.
