O Christmas Tree

This week, the CASEing the Catty team is celebrating Christmas Trees. Have you put yours up yet? I’m a strict 1st December type person so we’ve been enjoying ours for almost a week. For today’s project, I scanned the Holiday Catalogue for a suitable project to CASE. I settled on this one…

I had recently stumbled across a rustic fence paling tree in my car boot. My boys had been to an event recently where they made it. They brought it home but neglected to tell me about it so it was a nice surprise and made my project choice an easy one.

I decided to create a banner of tags to decorate it as a tribute to the sample above but as I thought further I thought I could go one better on the tree theme front. Instead of traditional shaped tags, I used the Tree punch for the tags and spelled out my message using the Little Letters framelit dies.

It’s a little hard to see in the picture but I first did an ombre watercolour was using Pool Party ink. I added a mini peg to the top of each tree and threaded the banner with Silver Thread.

My tree looked a little nude with just the banner so I decided to add some more decoration. I used the smallest Star framelit to cut out a bunch of Whisper White, Real Red, Pool Party and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper. I poked two holes in each star and threaded them onto some thread like buttons. I ended up with a nice long garland of stars and added that to my tree.

I really love it and it looks so festive in our home.

As well as showcasing this project in the CASEing the Catty blog hop, this week I’m also entering it into TGIF challenges which has a Real Red, Whisper White and Pool Party colour combo.

  1. Love this decoration, Jess, glad you had help with the tree, but your banners, letters and stars are brilliant. Great colour scheme.
