Why yes I am the only person out there in craft land who doesn’t own the new Butterflies Thinlits Dies. When I found out that this week’s challenge was going to feature them, I had to put on my thinking cap. This week we’re CASEing the card from page 17 of the SAB catalogue. I know that when you’re CASEing a sketch you can mix things up a bit but to me the butterfly seemed kind of essential. My brilliant idea was to downsize the card and make mini notecards. This way, I could use my butterfly punches instead of framelits.
I decided to use Crisp Cantaloupe and Pistachio Pudding because we’ll be saying goodbye to them in just a matter of months. Of course the beautiful Gold Soiree DSP features those colours so now I had the basics sorted. The DSP also features gold and I wanted to highlight that so I also used some Gold 1/8″ Ribbon to give them some sparkle.
Here are my cute A7 sized notecards.
And of course because they’re a set, they had to be packaged up like a set as well…
Oh, they’re so sweet!
Now for a surprise guest blogging moment. My little Master 3 likes to craft with mum so it wasn’t really a surprise when he asked to make what I was making. My Stampin’ Up! supplies aren’t as precious to me as nurturing creativity and receiving beautiful creations, so I let my boys have free reign over my supplies (except for my markers – who knows what they would do to those – eek). So I folded him a card and off he went. Stamping the spots, glueing on DSP and punching butterflies. The results were so beautiful that I asked him if I could take a photo. So here are his creations…
My favourite is his card in Soft Sky. Partly because he made it backwards and partly because even though he didn’t use the ‘official coordinating colours’, I think it is still an awesome colour combo… and I might borrow it for one of my projects!
Ready for the best news? The Elegant Butterfly Punch is featured as one of this week’s Weekly Deals – woohoo. It’s 25% off, so you get to save $7. Hooray! Supplies are listed below so just click on them and you’ll go straight to the store to add them to your shopping cart.
