Welcome back to another year of CASEing the Catty! If you follow the CTC blog, you’ll know that it actually started back last week but this year, our design team has been split into two so I’ll be designing every other week, unless of course I get my act together and design a few extra projects on my off week.
This week’s theme is Sale-A-Bration papers or new papers from the Occasions catalogue. During Sale-A-Bration, purchases will earn you freebie products and there’s nothing better than free craft supplies. I’ve chosen to showcase the Irresistibly Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper, which I will henceforth refer to as magic paper – because it is! There are 6 different designs (and you get two sheets of each), each of which have a glossy design over a white matte base. This way, you can colour the paper in any colour you like to suit your project. You can use a variety of ways to colour them as well. Sponge on ink with sponges or daubers, spritz on ink, use a brayer or even Blendabilities. You can make them multicoloured or ombre or just a block of colour. It’s all up to your imagination. Here’s a great video on some of the ways Stampin’ Up! has created the Sale-A-Bration catalogue samples.
I’ve decided to use showcase the paper by CASEing the ‘You Made my Day’ card on page 5 of the Sale-A-Bration catalogue. Since it’s not too far from Valentine’s Day, I’ve chosen Cherry Cobbler for my card and have daubed my magic paper with Cherry Cobbler ink for an ombre, monochromatic look.
The rest of my palette is Crumb Cake and Whisper White. Notice the trim under the heart? It’s actually the reverse side of the Chevron Trim. I was mourning the retirement of the Natural Trim from last year when I had the brainwave to just flip the Chevron Trim. I’m sure it’s been done before but if there are any like me reading along… there’s a little tip for you. The sentiment is from the Hip Notes stamp set. One of my ‘go to’ sets. If you follow my blog, you’ll probably have noticed that my cards very rarely have sentiments but I make an exception for Hip Notes 🙂
Did you notice the envelope in the photo? I’m learning myself some modern calligraphy skills at the moment and have these envelopes, as well as the complete card, for sale in my Etsy store. So if you love the card, you can shop for supplies and make your own, or just buy the complete card and add a custom envelope with any pet name you like.
Make sure you check out the CASEing the Catty challenge and play along yourself!
